DHC volunteers supported the University of Kentucky Police Department’s (UKPD) 9th annual “Cram the Cruiser” toy drive. We delivered unwrapped toys for UK HealthCare’s Kentucky Children’s Hospital (KCH) patients on November 10th, 2025.
“‘Cram the Cruiser’ is one of my favorite traditions because it shows what makes the UK community so special — our willingness to come together and lift others up,” said UK Police Chief Joe Monroe. “Every toy collected brings joy to a child and reminds us that our service can extend beyond campus safety. I’m proud of our students, staff and community partners who make this effort a success year after year.”
From now until December 10, people can drop off new unwrapped toys at the police department at 305 E Euclid Ave, Lexington, KY 40506, or have them mailed to the station directly. KCH has published a list of acceptable items by age, including toys and books for children ages infant to teen. Find that full list and more information here.
Along with the toy drive, UKPD hopes to bring Christmas cheer to the entire campus by hosting the second annual Christmas parade, the Parade of Toys.
The Parade of Toys will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at UKPD headquarters and will travel through campus to deliver all the collected donations to Golisano Children’s at UK. UKPD invites campus partners to participate in a parade through campus to deliver toys to Golisano Children’s at UK. Anyone interested in volunteering can register here.
