Hepatitus A is a virus that inflames the liver. Hep A can be spread as early as two weeks before you start symptoms till a week after you experience symptoms. Symptoms are similar to those of the flu. If you suspect you have Hepatitus A, the best way to find out for sure is to go see your doctor.

Already we have surpassed both number of cases and deaths of the last known Louisville outbreak (1988). This outbreak only affected about 200 and killed 1. In this case, roughly 75% of the affected had eaten at one of three restuarants whose produce was delivered by the same company.

How is Hepatitus A affecting Louisville?

In Kentucky alone there has been over 900 cases. Of those cases, 540 were from Louisville and 4 have died (as of July 17, 2018).
