Doctors for Healthy Communities (DHC) delivered supplies to Newcomer Academy of Jefferson County Public Schools on August 28th, 2025. Items delivered included school supplies, backpacks and undergarments for children. They were received by Anne Miller & Dr. Irina McGrath, Assistant Principals of Newcomer Academy. The goal of the Newcomer Academy is to provide a welcoming and respectful environment to meet the needs of sixth through twelfth grade English language learners (ELLs) in the Jefferson County Public School district. All students at the academy are beginning English speakers, and most are in their first year of instruction in a U.S. school.
We want to extend a huge thank you to the GLMS Foundation and St. Paul Kaleidoscope Group who collected many of these supplies.
